What We Do

Whatever your discipline is, be it ballet, contemporary, ballroom, latin, hip-hop; we work with the moving body and the sensations erupted within that.

We use choreographic techniques to piece together the lived in emotion experience and present the embodiment of the movement.

Be it on stage, film, through music or in silence we want our members to discover and learn something they have never before encountered.

We believe strength, conditioning and flexibility are very important, however, not our core focus. During sessions the company will be lead through warm ups and cool down to ensure that your body is well looked after and injuries are at a minimum.

More importantly we focus on mind and soul wellbeing. Having fun is one of the best cleansers and we want our members to feel happy and comfortable in our environment

To inspire creation for our members we hire guest artists to lead workshops. Using choreographic exploration methods guest artists will lead the company in a series of exercises to help develop and learn new ways of creating material.

Previously we have invited

Julie Havelund-Willett, Co-Choreographer of Inter Pares Project and dancers from Shecter II Company.

Ella Tighe who's worked with Flux Dance Company.

This year we plan to invite former artistic directors to expose the company to a broader variety of styles and techniques.

At the end of the year all members have the opportunity to showcase their work throughout the year in the annual Actual Size Performance in May, which is held in the Bellairs Theatre at the Ivy Arts Centre.

Additionally Actual Size are invited by Dance Woking to perform in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre offering a Contemporary dance platform for performers.

Throughout the year Actual Size also collaborate with musicians, filming and digital media artists who provide project opportunities.
